The difference between DALL-E in ChatGPT-4 and in Bing Create
I use different AI-powered image generators. Including Dall-E in ChatGPT4 and Dall-E in Bing Create next to a number of other AI-image generators to generate AI-generated political cartoons and generic AI-generated explicit content for instance. There are a number of differences between Dall-E in ChatGPT 4 and in Bing Create.
The difference between DALL-E in ChatGPT-4o and Dall-E in Bing Create in the first place lies in their interfaces and features:
✔️ Interface & Integration:
- ChatGPT-4o: DALL-E is integrated into the ChatGPT interface, allowing users to generate images directly from text prompts. This makes it easy to have a conversational experience where you can adjust prompts, get feedback and help, and iterate on your request in real-time. It’s part of a more interactive AI conversation model that includes a mix of text generation, image creation, and other tools.
- Bing Create: This tool is part of the Microsoft ecosystem and is available directly through Bing or as part of Microsoft Copilot. The length of the prompts you can submit is smaller and you do not get any feedback on why prompts are blocked. They are ‘just blocked’.

- ChatGPT-4o: DALL-E here is embedded in a platform geared towards a more diverse set of users, from creative professionals to those seeking a more interactive way of developing and refining both text and images.
- Bing Create: It caters more to general users who might want quick image generation directly within a search or browsing context.
Both leverage similar underlying AI technology but cater to slightly different use cases depending on how much interactivity and refinement you need and the kind of content you want to create.
There is however another major difference between the two and that is: which type of images you are allowed to generate or not. They use two slightly different approaches to ‘NSFW Prompt Filtering’ using different ‘banned words lists’.
