What Is The A La Carte Learning Model?

Hi, how are you?

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis there is a huge increase in demand for blended learning, online learning and selfstudy materials in diferent forms and combinations. One of the most effective and efficient forms and the one I use both for my own life long learning in this crisis and for all of our clients is the ‘A La Carte Learning Model’.

What is the A la carte learning model?

The A La Carte model is a blended learning approach which lets individual learners choose different online and offline instructional methods and tools including online tutorials, games, online courses and instructor-led group-based instruction. Providing them with more flexibility in line with their personal learning styles and schedules.

Some history since the last century.

Since the Eighties of the last century, I have been using the ‘a la carte learning model’ in the global banking sector as program manager eLearning and Computer Based Training (CBT) in the ICT-division of the Amro Bank and as Head of Educational Techology until 1993 (see here).

Since 2011, I have been using the ‘a la carte model’ again to design and redesign ‘a la carte blended learning programs’ for different niches of customers including executives, startups, scaleups, instructors and teachers:

  • Blended learning design
  • Online course design.
  • From instructor-led to multi-media

And for ‘a la carte outplacement 2.0 programs on demand’ for senior managers and executives.
